En regardant le gouvernement britannique tâtonner avec le « Rwanda pauvre mais riche », il est difficile de ne pas conclure que les élites dirigeantes britanniques sont devenues des clowns dans le cirque. Le 17 juillet 2023, le ministère britannique des Affaires étrangères, du Commonwealth et du Développement a qualifié le Rwanda de l’un des pays les plus pauvres du monde. De plus, le Rwanda serait en proie à une crise économique marquée par la hausse des prix des denrées alimentaires et l’augmentation de la dette publique. 

Le ministère des Affaires étrangères, du Commonwealth et du Développement a décrit le Rwanda comme suit :

“Le Rwanda reste l’un des pays les plus pauvres du monde… Les prix des denrées alimentaires augmentent, l’inflation est actuellement de 21 % et la dette publique a augmenté. Le gouvernement doit maintenant trouver un équilibre entre le soutien à la reprise, la poursuite du développement et le renforcement des finances publiques”.

Le gouvernement britannique a fait volte-face, déclarant que le Rwanda était une nation fiable, sûre et prospère. Voici la grandiloquence de décembre 2023 du secrétaire d’État au ministère de l’Intérieur, James Cleverly :

” Le Rwanda est un pays sûr et prospère. C’est un partenaire essentiel pour le Royaume-Uni. Notre traité met hors de doute juridique la sécurité du Rwanda et met fin à l’interminable manège de contestations judiciaires qui, jusqu’à présent, ont frustré cette politique et remis en question la volonté du Parlement. Je tiens à exprimer ma gratitude au président Kagame…”

Cleverly s’est appuyé sur les mots du Premier ministre britannique Rishi Sunak qui a déclaré que « le Rwanda n’est pas seulement un pays sûr, mais une nation moderne et prospère ».

Deux ans plus tôt, le gouvernement britannique avait demandé à Kagame de mener « des enquêtes transparentes, crédibles et indépendantes sur les allégations d’exécutions extrajudiciaires, de décès en détention, de disparitions forcées et de torture », et de « filtrer, identifier et fournir un soutien aux victimes de la traite, y compris celles détenues dans les centres de transit gouvernementaux ».

On parle d’effondrement moral. La députée britannique Yvette Cooper a mis le doigt sur le problème :

“C’est le chaos total au sein du gouvernement… Il est totalement à court d’idées et a perdu tout sens du leadership”. -Restez avec nous.
