Maj. General Fred Rwigema was such a darling to many. He was an honest officer and one of the most daring military Commanders in the National Resistance Army (NRA).
His Commander in Chief President Museveni saw all these qualities in Rwigema and awarded him all the military honors and leadership titles a person of his caliber deserves.
This article will dwell much on how the NRA treated Rwigema, and how Kagame treats him in death. I will be dismissing falsehoods uttered by dictator Kagame, and unmasking all lies written by Kagame’s propagandists like Tom Ndahiro, a miserable old man in his seventies who still runs to the dictator to pay his rental charges.
At his age, Ndahiro, should know better that he wrote lies in his story titled, ‘Kampala didn’t love Rwigema until he was dead’. But because he has to run to the pencil thin ruthless dictator for a pay cheque, he sits down and cooks all sorts of propaganda aimed at tarnishing President Museveni’s name.
I salute my President for acting a high class ahead and not responding to petty issues, despite provocations from the blood thirsty Rwandan dictator.
In life, President Museveni showed Rwigema that he appreciated his services as a fearless fighter and eventually a national leader.
“How do you hate an officer and appoint him to go for military training at Fort Leavenworth, one of the top military training schools in the world? How does Museveni hate Rwigema and appoint him an army commander and State Minister for Defense?
How would Museveni wish Rwigema to go for such a Senior Command and Staff Course in the US, yet he hated him? How does Museveni hate Rwigema yet he appointed him a historical permanent member of the high command?
Rwigema showed all his love to Kagame, as a brother when he passed on the Senior Command and Staff Course in the US opportunity to him just for the later to unleash his vampire bloodthirstiness on the departed hero. What has Kagame done for the Rwigema family, other than tormenting them?
In different writings, President Museveni and his family have publicly appreciated Rwigema as a military genius who actually saved some members of the first family when they were met with imminent enemy attacks.

Who doesn’t know that Rwigema’s family has gone through a lot of trauma to the level of frustrating Rwigema’s widow in all businesses in Rwanda, and arresting and frustrating all her business associates?
Their only crime is that the Ugandan leadership honorably treats and supports the family of their bush war comrade! If the families of other bush war comrades in Uganda can be supported, why should it be an exception case for General Rwigema’s family?”
So, of the two leaders Museveni and Kagame, who loves Rwigema?
For example, Rwigyema and Gen. Salim Saleh were too close that after Rwigyema’s death, Gen Saleh took charge of his friend’s family. Why should that be a criminal case to dictator Kagame to the level of killing Rwigema’s sister and permanently torturing Rwigema’s family?
If Kagame was indeed playing the father figure role to the family of his departed comrade, he wouldn’t have come out in public to lament how Gen. Rwigema’s son Eric Gisa Jr, was missing out at his sister’s wedding, and only making visit to Uganda and not Rwanda! His revelation meant that he’s not in charge of that family but he’s instead playing a tormenting role to them.
In the African culture, when a child in the family behaves contrary to the way you want, as a father, you employ your parental knowledge of sweet talking the child.
You don’t come out guns blazing and publicly ordering his mother and grandmother to produce him in Rwanda! Still in the banyarwanda culture, it was wrong for Kagame to refer to Rwigema’s mother as Mama Wa Fred.
That’s very rude and uncultured! The most decent and kind way is to say Mama! That also goes a long way to show you how disconnected he is with the Rwigema family!
At Teta Rwigema’s wedding, the tense and fearful Jeannette Rwigema, the fallen hero’s widow, made an unexpected brief speech.
It was like someone was holding a pistol on her head to forcefully say words like …Turashima Nyakubahwa Presida wa Republica. The words of Rwigema’s widow were confirmed to be stage managed in a speech by the dictator when he said he hadn’t met and heard from Rwigema’s family in a long time!
In short, he was passing a message like, we long forgot about you after the death of your father and husband and son.
So, if he neglected the family, why should Kagame feel envious when other Rwigema bush war comrades honor the fallen General? Ngayo nguko!
