Récit de Mme Ariane Mukundente
Le vendredi de gratitude est de retour après une semaine de congé pour raison de maladie. Il s’ouvre sur un jeune homme extraordinaire, le grand poète Innocent Bahati Moussa.
Voilà déjà un an qu’il a disparu, car pas de signe de vie depuis le 7 février 2021. Il a été vu pour la dernière fois par ses amis et sa famille à Nyanza, dans le sud du Rwanda où il aurait été appelé par un inconnu qui voulait le rencontrer dans un hôtel des environs. Après sa disparition, son téléphone portable a été déconnecté.
Sa famille a signalé sa disparition à la police et cette dernière a annoncé l’ouverture d’une enquête pour le retrouver. Cependant, le Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB), qui s’est saisi de l’affaire depuis un an n’a donné aucune information jusqu’à maintenant. Nous attendons toujours.
Qui est Innocent Bahati Moussa?
Bahati est un jeune homme brillant de 32 ans qui est né en 1990 à Nyagatare dans la région du nord-est du Rwanda. Il fait ses études primaires dans sa région natale et termine son université en 2018 à l’Institut d’éducation en biologie, chimie et physique de l’Université du Rwanda à Kigali. Il obtient un emploi d’assistant enseignant à la Green Hills Academy, une école privée de la haute société à Kigali.
Bahati a commencé à publier ses poèmes en 2013. C’est une personnalité attachante ayant le sens de l’humour. Il est connu pour ses expressions uniques comme ‘’ka ndyame, setu’’ qui sont devenues populaires sur les réseaux sociaux.
Il publia plusieurs poèmes connus dont le plus populaire est « Rubebe », racontant l’histoire d’un jeune orphelin qui se lamentait auprès de Dieu. Comme tous les grands poètes, il a de grandes valeurs humaines qui se reflètent dans ses poèmes. Il se désole de la dégradation, dans la société rwandaise, de ces valeurs en appelant à plus d’humanité. Avec ce poème, il remporte le concours de poésie en 2016 et depuis lors il porte le surnom de « Rubebe ».
Père d’un petit garçon, il lui écrit un poème portant son nom, Muvunyi. Dans ce poème, il lui transmet des valeurs humaines de bravoure et de droiture qu’il doit chérir en marchant à contre-courant de la société rwandaise contemporaine qui valorise la lâcheté et la servilité.
Intelligent et sensible aux mauvaises conditions que vit la jeunesse rwandaise à cause du chômage, il compose le poème « Mfungurira » ce qui veut dire «donne-moi à manger ». Le poème est un cri de cœur pour ces jeunes rwandais dynamiques ayant terminé leurs études mais qui ne trouvent pas de travail. C’est le désespoir total : Sinsaba inka, njye si ndi uwo gutunga.Sinsaba inzu, njye si ndi uwo gutura.Nawe mubyeyi ndamira ndege rino ndamuke.Wenda ubukeye Rugira azangenera igeno rindi. Avec cette strophe, Bahati souligne le désarroi de la jeunesse rwandaise ne pouvant même pas satisfaire les besoins de base de la pyramide de Maslow comme la nourriture d’une seule nuit.
Ce poème a été publié le 10 janvier 2021, presqu’un mois avant sa disparition. Un mois plus tard après sa disparition, le 21 mars 2021, le Rwanda a célébré la Journée mondiale de la poésie. Curieusement, le nom de Bahati, ce grand poète qui devait célébrer aussi, n’a pas été mentionné par aucun de ses collègues poètes ce jour-là.
Cependant, il y a un discours qui n’a pas passé inaperçu, celui d’Edouard Bamporiki, secrétaire d’Etat chargé de la culture, lui-même poète. Il a profité de son allocution pour mettre en garde ses collègues :
« Celui qui n’a rien à perdre peut franchir les lignes, et celui qui n’a pas de garde sortira du droit chemin. Quand la poésie s’égare, elle peut tromper le public. C’est pour cette raison que je vous demande d’oublier les difficultés que la communauté poétique rwandaise a connues ces derniers temps, mais plutôt de faire notre part pour conseiller et réprimander ceux d’entre eux qui s’écartent du droit chemin’’.
Je vous laisse le soin d’analyser vous-même ces mots juste un mois après la disparition de Bahati.
C’est devenu monnaie courante, plusieurs rwandais disparaissent dans la nature comme ça, ni vu, ni connu. Heureusement la disparition de Bahati a attiré l’attention de plus de 100 grands écrivains et artistes de ce monde qui ont écrit une lettre au Président Kagame pour avoir de nouvelles sur sa disparition. Dans un des paragraphes ils écrivent :
“We are bringing this matter to your attention, with a plea for urgent action because, one year later, Bahati is still missing and his situation unknown. We note with concern that the Rwandan authorities are yet to disclose any progress or outcome of investigations on his case,” (https://opencountrymag.com/over-100-writers-sign-open…/).
Deux jours après la publication de cette lettre, la police rwandaise a annoncé qu’elle allait donner les nouvelles sur l’enquête qu’elle mène depuis un an.
Est-ce une coïncidence? Je ne sais pas.
Une chose est sûre, il semble que quand ce sont les étrangers qui bougent pour nos compatriotes disparus, ils reçoivent la réponse immédiate des autorités rwandaises. Ça fait un an que plusieurs rwandais demandaient, à chaque fois, les nouvelles sur la disparition Bahati, mais c’était silence radio, un mépris total.
Moi-même j’avais écrit le 22 mars 2021 ceci : ‘’ Rwanda, Rwanda, Rwanda! Maze ukwezi kurenga nkubajije, Bahati aho ari! Ngo yaburiwe irengero? Gute se? Ubutaka bwawe burigisa abantu, umuntu akabura pee!?!? Ubu tubyemere tubane nabyo? Umva uzagumana ibyo biyaga, imisozi n’ibisiza byiza ariko umenye ko ubutaka bwawe buzaba imva kuko bumira bunguri abo wabyaye. Rwanda nibyo wifuza? Kuba u Rwanda rw’ibiti n’inyamaswa gusa ukaratwa n’amahanga? Dore uramira abana bawe uko bwije, uko bukeye, bamwe bakarebera, kuko bameze neza bakumva bikwiye, bitunganye. Ndakureba ubaseka, kuko barahishiwe. Abo barebera nibo uzikuza, ubamira bwa nyuma. Rwanda, reka nkubaze: nuturangiza twese, uzadukira ya misozi na bya bisiza byawe? Ongera urebe abo bana bawe, uko ari batatu (Bahati, Kizito, Niyomugabo). Bitegereze neza, Imana yabimye amahanga irabaguha ngo ubumenyi bwabo buzakugirire akamaro, none dore urihekura. Nzajya mbakwibutsa buri gihe uko ari batatu, niba na Bahati umutuvukije! Gira agasoni, Rwanda, tuzanire Bahati ! Dore uri u Rwanda rwa Gihanga, ukaba u Rwanda rwa Gasabo, wiba u Rwanda rwa Bayanga’’.
Depuis deux jours nous attendons avec impatience les nouvelles de la Police sur Bahati.
Entre temps, rendons un hommage vibrant à ce grand poète humaniste qu’est, Innocent Bahati Moussa. Son talent a dépassé les frontières du Rwanda, il est notre fierté nationale.
