The French state has asked the Israeli authorities for explanations as to why it decided to bomb the French Institute in Gaza, the French Foreign Ministry said.

“We have been informed by the Israeli authorities that the French Institute in Gaza has been targeted by an Israeli strike. We have asked the Israeli authorities to provide us without delay, by the appropriate means, with the tangible elements that motivated this decision.”
On X, Jean-Luc Mélenchon reacts to this attack and castigates:
“This is what the refusal to condemn war crimes encourages! Macron and the Macronist group have accepted everything.” He wrote:
“Netanyahu bombed the French Institute in Gaza. What for? This is what the refusal to condemn war crimes encourages! Macron and the Macronist group have accepted everything. But when Netanyahu sees a doormat, he wipes his feet.”
Catherine Colonna, the French Foreign Ministry, “condemned the attacks on UN sites and humanitarian personnel, whose work is indispensable to the civilian population of Gaza, as well as on the siege of the media.”
