to the tune of $10.1 million, according to Box Office Mojo.
Last week’s champ, Terrifier 3 dropped to third place.
In this latest chapter of the franchise, Art the Clown is determined to slash his way through a
small town preparing for the Christmas holidays in order to finish the
work he started with a Halloween massacre in Terrifier 2.
Audiences have enjoyed the chase. Terrifier 3 kicked up more than $9.3
million in ticket sales.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice lost some ground to the new arrivals, but maintained a strong
presence at theaters across the nation.
The haunted tale starring Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder and
Jenna Ortega conjured up an even $5 million and a fourth place finish.

M. Night shot to fame in 1999 with his film The
Sixth Sense, which celebrated turning 25-years-old in August.
Shyamalan recently opened up about that film’s impact on his career in an interview with
People.

He added that some, people ‘only know me from [2015 movie] The Visit from then on, so they
don’t even know about The Sixth Sense. So when I think about that, it’s wild.’

Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are asking voter to choose between an immigration crackdown and
reproductive rights
As their race for the US presidency comes down to the wire,
each major candidate has leaned heavily on a favorite
theme — abortion rights for Democrat Kamala Harris and border security for Republican Donald Trump.
In Arizona, their ideological duel has reached a white-hot peak, with both topics the
subject of fiercely debated ballot referendums.
And in this key southwestern state — where the billionaire Trump lost to
President Joe Biden in 2020 by a tiny margin of about 10,500 votes — every ballot truly will count.
In the mid-sized city of Tucson, hundreds of volunteers in orange T-shirts
were going door-to-door to try to persuade voters to back a ballot measure to inscribe abortion rights in the
state constitution — and, while they’re at it, to
vote for Vice President Harris.
To Grace Ireland, a 26-year-old activist, the abortion restrictions
imposed by several Republican-controlled states amount to “a public health crisis that Donald Trump and the Republicans have created.”
She added, “Democrats and Kamala Harris are trying to push us forward and protect women’s health care and protect our democracy and protect all people.”

Since 2022, when the US Supreme Court ended the constitutional protection of federal abortion rights,
Ireland, a registered nurse, has worked in several
states where abortion is banned or severely limited.
Those restrictions have had sometimes disastrous consequences for women having problem
pregnancies or carrying nonviable fetuses when doctors refuse to treat them.
“Women are going septic and dying because they cannot receive the care that they need,” she
told AFP.
– ‘Abortion is murder’ –
As Ireland carries her message to potential voters, she noted, particularly to young people who may be
less likely to vote, that it was Donald Trump who appointed the three justices who tipped the Supreme Court against abortion rights.

“It’s important to reiterate that Donald Trump and these abortion bans are one and the same,” Ireland said.
But in Tucson there is little unanimity among young voters.
“I do think that abortion is murder,” said Pedro Lopez, a
20-year-old college student.
“There are cases of incest or rape” that merit exceptions, he conceded, “but that’s very small.”
He also worries about the flow of undocumented migrants that have entered
the country from Mexico during the Biden-Harris administration.
“People that are entering the United States illegally… should be sent back to where they came from,” he said.
“My grandparents migrated from Mexico to the United States, and they did it the right way.”
So he plans not only to vote for Trump, but to back the proposal to let local law enforcement detain, arrest and prosecute anyone suspected of having entered the
country illegally — powers normally reserved to the border police who work for the federal government.
“I know people that work for the Border Patrol, and they’re really upset because this current administration has really tied their hands up. They’re not really able to do anything,” Lopez
said.
– Mixed impact –
The major political parties see the competing referendums as
offering an opportunity to mobilize more people to vote —
on ballot questions at the very heart of the two presidential campaigns.

But the referendums may not have the clear impact on the race for the White House that activists hope.
Polls show Trump and Harris running neck-and-neck in Arizona, with the
Republican holding a very narrow lead.
Both ballot questions, meantime, have drawn strong support and
both appear likely to pass.
So the abortion issue may not be “helping Democrats in the way that they would hope,” said Jenny Brian, a professor
of bioethics at Arizona State University.
Many Republican women will vote both to protect abortion rights and to
bring Trump back to the White House, Brian said.
Though abortion is sometimes framed as a Democrat vs.
Republican issue, the Republican Party includes “a broad spectrum of views on the topic,” an issue that also raises conservatives’ concerns about “government interference,” she added.
The same dynamic applies to immigration, with the tougher language on the Arizona ballot question finding support not just among Trump Republicans but also “moderates and even many Democrats,”
said John Kavanagh, a Republican and an Arizona state senator.
The 74-year-old Kavanagh is unimpressed by Harris’s recent
toughening on migration, specifically her promise to maintain the partial closing of
the border Biden ordered in recent months.
The vice president, Kavanagh said, is “running away faster from her open-border policy than an illegal immigrant that runs away from the Border Patrol.”
Six months after making its world premiere at the Bentonville Film Festival, The Seven Faces Of Jane has dropped in select theaters and VOD.
And as part of promotion some of the cast and crew for the anthology film were on hand for the West Coast premiere in Los Angeles on Friday night.

The existence of an exclusive hideaway for the country’s movers and shakers where secret deals were done in private luxury first exploded into the public eye back in 2007.
Back then, the fact that Qantas spent hundreds of thousands of
dollars wining and dining the nation’s political elite in ultra-exclusive VIP lounges was relatively unknown.
It was a time before Alan Joyce’s tenure as the CEO of Qantas had even started, when he was boss of the comparatively lowly budget airline,
Jetstar.
And unlike Anthony Albanese’s current slide in the polls leading up to an election in next
year, the prospects back in 2007 were rosy for Labor.
The election that was looming was the ‘Kevin 07’ landslide that
would see Kevin Rudd become prime minister and John Howard lose his own seat.
The issue which blew open the ‘guilty secret’ of the Chairman’s
Lounge then wasn’t about a prime minister’s privileges,
although John Howard and Kevin Rudd were certainly both members during
their terms as PM.
But when broadcaster Steve Price – himself a
long time Chairman’s Lounge member – revealed a politically charged remark made within the
club’s hallowed walls, the cat was out of the bag.
The political revelation – a comment by ex-rock star turned senator Peter Garrett that Labor would change the policies
it campaigned on if it won government – did not
deter his party from romping in on election day.
In contrast, the scandal currently engulfing Anthony
Albanese about his Chairman’s Lounge membership and that of his ex-wife Carmel
Tebbutt, and their son Nathan could bring down the prime minister.

The existence of the lounge was so little known back in 2007 that in defending his disclosure of Garrett’s remark, Steve Price had to
explain what the private enclave actually was.
In a first person piece he wrote: ‘The Chairman’s Lounge is
a separate frequent flyers lounge away from the crowded normal Qantas Club.
‘As its name implies, the people given access to it are approved by the Qantas
chairman, Margaret Jackson.
‘I have been a Chairman’s Lounge member since 2002.’
In his opinion piece, Price also revealed TV entertainment reporter Richard Wilkins was also a member of lounge.
Wilkins had also been inside at the time and was his only witness to the
remark Price said Garrett had made.
Other prominent media figures, such as 60 Minutes
reporters, actors and performers, and well-known writers and sports people are said to be among the
lounge’s exclusive membership of around 6000.
Price went on to defend himself for reporting what some claimed was a confidential conversation in a private place, but which exposed him to criticism over his own membership for allegedly
promoting Qantas on his radio show.

The report noted that politicians declaring membership of the lounge ‘which
most of their spouses got too’ in their pecuniary interests that year included Liberal
MPs of the day, Philip Ruddock, Bob Baldwin and Andrew Southcott.
Labor MPs with lounge privileges included Tanya Plibersek, Bob McMullan, and Sharon Grierson, and Martin Ferguson declared a bottle of Grange
hermitage as a gift from Qantas, as did Liberal, Christopher Pyne.
Asked if all MPs got the captain’s pick from Geoff Dixon, the airline’s spokesperson told Nine: ‘We like to
retain a bit of mystery. Membership is by invitation only and it is reviewed periodically.’
Fast forward to today, and nearly every single federal politician in the
country has accepted free membership of the controversial, invitation-only lounge with one even describing
it as an ‘entitlement’.
Qantas and the Albanese government recently denied the ‘very, very high-end perk’ gives the airline a disproportionate level of influence over the country’s politicians.
They were commenting ahead of the launch of the new book The
Chairman’s Lounge by former Australian Financial Review columnist Joe Aston, which has stirred up
the controversy.
A Daily Mail Australia audit of the members’ interest registers – in both
Federal Parliament’s House of Representatives and the Senate –
revealed almost 93 per cent of the nation’s leaders have been ‘gifted’ membership to the
lavish, all-inclusive lounge.
Mr Albanese has defended himself by saying he declared all his benefits in pecuniary
interest statements.
At a press conference this week, he repeated that all of his upgrades ‘have been declared as appropriate.
What’s appropriate is transparency.’
Apart from the PM, members include every one of his 22-person Cabinet, his seven-person Outer Ministry and all 12 assistant ministers.

On the Coalition side of parliament, Opposition Leader Peter Dutton, deputy leader David Littleproud
and former deputy Barnaby Joyce are also among the swathes of politicians who have disclosed they have taken up free membership to the contentious club.
Bill Shorten is a member, Tanya Plibersek is still a member and so is Teal MP, Zali
Steggall.
Last year it was reported that Australian Competition and Consumer Commission chairwoman Gina Cass-Gottlieb
and Australian Securities and Investments Commission chairman Joe Longo and some of their deputies are members of
the Chairman’s Lounge despite regulating the airline.
Senior public servants in the club included Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet secretary Glyn Davis,
deputy secretaries Nadine Williams, Liz Hefren-Webb, Rachel
Bacon and ambassador to Beijing, Scott Dewar.
Other Qantas freebies bestowed on members include numerous business class flight upgrades,
model Qantas aircrafts, frequent flyer points, and tickets to sporting and entertainment events.
Touted as ‘the most exclusive club in the country’, membership to the Chairman’s Lounge is still veiled in secrecy.

Even the entrances to each of the country’s six opulent VIP clubs – in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Canberra and Perth airports – are suitably discreet.
Once inside, however, the designer lounges are noticeably luxurious, with
free à la carte fine dining, table service, a decadent selection of
wines and Champagne and a discreet army of dedicated lounge attendants.
Virgin Airlines has its own version of the VIP enclave, the ‘Beyond’ lounge.
Only a handful of federal politicians have relinquished their membership to
the Qantas Chairman’s Lounge in the wake of
the furore.
The select few to take a principled stand on the issue include South Australian senator Barbara Pocock and former Wallabies star turned ACT senator David Pocock, along with MPs Stephen Bates, Queensland
Green Elizabeth Watson-Brown, and Monique Ryan, a Teal from
Victoria.
Geoffrey Watson SC, a former counsel assisting the Independent Commission Against Corruption and a director of the
Centre for Public Integrity, has implored all politicians and policymakers to follow suit.
‘There are certain positions in life where you cannot take Chairman’s Club membership,’
he said.
‘You’re taking public money for the job and you are supposed to represent
the public. Why not sit with them while you’re waiting for a plane?’

Australians have discovered an unlikely pop-up store offering shoppers ‘incredible’ deals on clothing, homewares,
food, and electronics.
The temporary Vinnies locations have been set up around Victoria to help shoppers
get through the cost of living crisis ravaging the country.
Vinnies, or the St Vincent de Paul Society, is a charity
that works to provide support and assistance to people in need.
Most items are brand new stock donated by corporate partners including Christmas decorations.
Popular bargains include $10 large jars of Biscoff, $2 bags of Red Rock Deli chips, and discounted shoes from Boston Bros.
Shoppers will find men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing,
shoes from top brands, and even electrical goods at
the Vinnies pop-up locations.
Many have purchased vacuums, air fryers, Adidas shoes, printers, and kitchen knives from previous pop-up shops.
There is presently a location in Ascot Vale which is open until 3 November, and another in Boronia
which will remain open until Christmas – or
until stock runs out.

Do Greens and crossbenchers who claim that transparency and integrity is
at the heart of their reason for entering Parliament in the first place hear themselves?
In the past few days they have mounted self-serving arguments against proposed
electoral reforms that the major parties look set to come
together to support.
The reforms include caps for how much money wealthy individuals can donate, caps on the amount candidates
can spend in individual electorates to prevent the equivalent of an arms race,
and a $90million limit on what any party can spend
at an election – actually less than the major parties currently spend.
The proposed new laws also include lower disclosure thresholds for donations, thus increasing the transparency of who makes political donations
in the first place.
So the wealthy wont be able to hide behind anonymity while using
their cash to influence election outcomes – and the
extent to which they can use their wealth at all will be limited.
The bill will further improve transparency by also increasing the speed and
frequency that disclosures of donations need to be made.
At present we have the absurd situation in which donations get made
– but you only find out the details of who
has given what to whom many months later, well
after elections are won and lost.
In other words, what is broadly being proposed will result in much
greater transparency and far less big money
being injected into campaigning by the wealthy.
Teal Kylea Tink claimed the major parties were ‘running scared’ with the policy and warned
the reform would ‘not stop the rot’

Anyone donating more than $1,000 to a political party,
as opposed to $16,000 under the current rules, will need to disclose having done so.
And how much they can donate will be capped.
Yet the Greens and Teals have quickly condemned the proposed new laws, labeling them a ‘stitch-up’, ‘outrageous’ and
‘a rort, not a reform’.
They have lost their collective minds after finding
out that Labor’s proposal just might secure the support of
the opposition.
I had to double check who was criticising what exactly before
even starting to write this column.
Because I had assumed – incorrectly – that these important transparency measures stamping out the
influence of the wealthy must have been proposed by the virtue-signalling Greens or the corruption-fighting Teals, in a united crossbench effort to drag
the major parties closer to accountability.
More fool me.
The bill, designed to clean up a rotten system, is being put forward by Labor and is opposed by a growing cabal of crossbenchers.
It makes you wonder what they have to hide. Put simply, the Greens and Teals doth protest too much on this issue.
Labor is thought to be trying to muscle out major political
donors such as Clive Palmer

The major parties have long complained about the influence the likes of Simon Holmes à Court wields behind the scenes amongst the Teals.
And we know the Greens have taken massive donations from the wealthy in the past,
contrary to their irregular calls to tighten donations rules.
Now that tangible change has been proposed, these bastions of virtue are running a mile from reforms that will curtail
dark art of political donations.
The Labor government isn’t even seeking for these transparency rules
to take effect immediately, by the way. It won’t be some sort of quick-paced power
play before the next election designed to catch the crossbench out.
They are aiming for implementation by 2026, giving everyone enough time to absorb and understand the changes
before preparing for them.
Don’t get me wrong, no deal has yet been done between Labor and the Coalition.
I imagine the opposition want to go over the laws with a fine tooth comb.
As they should – because it certainly isn’t beyond Labor to
include hidden one-party advantages in the proposed design which would create loopholes only the unions
are capable of taking advantage of, therefore disadvantaging the
Coalition electorally in the years to come.
But short of such baked-in trickiness scuttling a deal to get these proposed laws implemented, the crossbench should offer their support, not cynical opposition, to what is being advocated for.
They might even be able to offer something worthwhile that could be incorporated in the package.
To not do so exposes their utter hypocrisy and
blowhard false commentary about being in politics to ‘clean things up’.

Former first lady Melania Trump said she was completely comfortable with posing nude during her
modeling days.
In her memoir Melania, which was released Tuesday, she recounts how her nude photos were put on the cover of
The New York Post during the closing weeks of the 2016
presidential election.
The tabloid used the ‘disgusting heaadline,’ as Melania described it, ‘Menage à Trump.’
‘My upbringing in Europe had fostered a different perspective on nudity, a more open and accepting attitude,’
she wrote. ‘We were accustomed to beaches where nudity was commonplace, a natural and uncontroversial aspect
of life.’
She noted how ‘attitudes toward the female body in the United States were starkly different.’

her nude modeling photos were used to try to hurt her husband’s first presidential campaign
‘I believed then, as I do now, that women should take pride in their bodies,

said. ‘To me, those images were artistic and
tasteful, fitting for a publication like Max, which showcased many renowned super-models.’
But there was another problem with the photographer
selling the photos of Melania to the newspaper – he originally said the photoshoot happened a year before.
‘This misinformation led to unfounded allegations that
I had illegally worked in the United States,
a claim propagated by the New York Post,’ she wrote.
‘Although the photographer later admitted the error, the damage
was done – sensationalized lies about me spread worldwide, driven by a shameful pursuit of scandal and

SHANGHAI, Dec 6 (Reuters) – The yuan was little changed on Friday against the
dollar, but is headed for its tenth straight
weekly loss amid concerns that new tariff threatened by President-elect Donald Trump will heighten strains
on the struggling Chinese economy.
Analysts expect the dollar to remain firm as Trump’s policies
are expected to drive up U.S. inflation, but they believe Beijing will prevent the yuan from falling too much.
“We anticipate some depreciation pressure in an expected strong dollar environment,” Lynn Song, Greater China chief economist
at ING, said in a note.
However, “we don’t expect an intentional large-scale depreciation and think the yuan will remain a low-volatility currency vis-à-vis most other Asian currencies.” The
yuan was changing hands at 7.2549 per dollar around midday, little moved from the previous
close.
Although the currency has rebounded from a one-year
low of 7.2996 hit on Tuesday, it is poised to register its longest weekly losing streak since 2018.
The dollar index fell to one-week low overnight and “the USD’s consolidation should unwind the upside pressure building” in the yuan, aided by ongoing attempts by China’s central bank to restrain its decline, said Alvin Tan, strategist
at RBC Capital Markets.
Recent data has painted a mixed picture of China’s economic
recovery, with manufacturing activities improving, but property sales in many Chinese cities remaining weak.
China’s “economic landscape is unarguably dull, and the absence of excitement is perhaps the most salient feature,” said John Browning,
managing director of BANDS Financial.
He doesn’t expect huge stimulus to be announced during next week’s Central Economic Work Conference, as “Beijing’s largesse will be reserved until after Trump is restored to the White House and the trade war formally begins.” Top policymakers will gather at the conference to
agree on major economic goals for next year.
But the target for 2025 growth, one of the most closely-watched indicators
globally for clues of Beijing’s near-term policy intentions, likely will not be officially
announced until an annual parliament meeting in March.
During Trump’s first term as president, the yuan weakened about 5%
against the dollar after the initial round of U.S.
tariffs on Chinese goods in 2018, and fell another 1.5% a year later when trade tensions
escalated. Growth worries and expectations
of further monetary easing by Beijing pushed China’s 10-year treasury yields below 2% to record lows this
week, worsening the yield disadvantage against the U.S.,
and exerting downward pressure on the yuan. ING’s Song
expects the onshore yuan to move within a band between 7.00-7.40 per dollar, but could fall further to 7.50 “if tariffs come in earlier or more aggressive than our forecasts.” LEVELS AT 03:

Jackie O Henderson has left her father Tony red-faced
after a shocking stunt in which he was tricked into
reading about her threesome live on-air.

I’d be so excited.
‘I’ve been round the block a few times. I understand how these things happen.’
Another passage in the book revealed a very awkward encounter between Phil’s male flatmate and Jackie’s mother Julie.
‘My mum came over once and when no one answered
the door, she put her face to the screen to see inside
and that flatmate was right there in the living room, pants
down, w***ing,’ a shocked Tony read.
The revelations come after Jackie spoke for the first time about her years-long battle with drugs which saw her secretly go to rehab at The Betty Ford Clinic in November in 2022.
During a tearful on-air admission, Jackie said at the height of her addiction, she took around 10-12 Stilnox/Ambien sleeping pills and 24 Panadeine Forte painkillers

break even — when factoring in the cut taken by
theaters — though Warner Bros. sources claim the number is $375 million.
A Warner Bros. spokesperson responded to the report, saying ‘Any estimates suggested by anonymous “insiders” or “rival executives” are grossly
wrong and continues a trend where rumor is reported as fact.’
‘The film continues to play in theatrical release, included with this week’s
opening in China, and will continue to earn revenue throughout its home
viewing and ancillary run.’
So far, the musical about Batman’s nemesis has grossed $51.5 million domestically and
$165 million globally after two weeks of release.

The 21-year-old student said he had waited in line until 11:00 pm on Wednesday but left before being able

a request to remove a single peppermint tree growing in the middle of their driveway.
The couple bought the four-bedroom mansion in the affluent,
tree-lined suburb overlooking Perth’s Freshwater Bay for $20.1million in August.

the request on the grounds the tree was not dead or deceased.

PASIR MAS, Malaysia, Dec 4 (Reuters) – Health volunteers in Malaysia have been preparing for any surge in waterborne diseases
following devastating floods that saw tens of thousands of people evacuated,
with concerns in the country that days of constant rains
could be on the way.
Floodwaters have begun receding in the worst-hit state of Kelantan,
on Malaysia’s northeastern coast, but government data showed more than 40,000 people remained
at temporary shelters on Wednesday amid fears of a potential second wave of flooding this week.
Videos of children playing in muddy floodwaters have gone
viral online in recent days, sparking concerns over
the potential spread of waterborne illnesses.
Nearly 5,000 cases of infectious diseases – including stomach flu
and respiratory and skin infections – have been detected at Kelantan relief centres so far, government
news agency Bernama reported on Tuesday, citing state health authorities.
The Malaysian Medical Relief Society, or MERCY Malaysia, said the number of reported cases
have been manageable but its volunteers remained on alert for any future spikes.
“We have sort of stockpiled our hygiene kits at our base camp. These are to be distributed if the surge of the community moving into the (shelters) happens again,” the group’s head of global operations, Shah Fiesal Hussain,
told Reuters at a flood relief shelter in Kelantan’s Pasir Mas district, near Malaysia’s border with Thailand.
The volunteers have also prepared activities for children at the
shelters to prevent their exposure to flood-related health risks, he
said.
The Meteorological Department on Wednesday said
it expects a monsoon surge from Dec. 8 to 14, which could bring continuous
rain to the east coast of Malaysia’s peninsular and
parts of Sabah and Sarawak states on Borneo island.

Venetian sun than by the movie we’d just been shown.

Last night, here in Venice, came the world premiere of the sequel, Joker: Folie
a Deux The director is again Todd Phillips, with Joaquin Phoenix once more in the title role,
this time joined by Lady Gaga as what I suppose we must call the love interest,
although that would undervalue her wonderful performance.
The film is audaciously different in style from the original, not quite as electrifying, but
bold and brilliant all the same.
It begins with a kind of sinister jauntiness
with a Joker animation in the style of a
Tom & Jerry cartoon, to show that since the events of
the first movie, Arthur Fleck along with his murderous alter
ego has become a cultural phenomenon in Gotham City.

be just another unnecessary Batman spin-off, you should maybe think again
