Today is the latest chapter in this tale, hopefully a chapter towards the end of the book. At this point, it matters little if the Lennon 2499 sells publicly for a record price. More importantly, the watch will soon be back in link the hands of Ono, who can rightfully decide to do with it as she pleases. All I ask is for a high-quality photo or two, maybe even an exhibition! The Speedmaster Professional Calibre 321 in platinum with an onyx dial and meteorite sub-dials link is a grail for many, and there were two at the event. It’s an incredibly impressive watch, and the meteorite gives each example a unique look.

One of my favorite watches ever – bar none – is the Voutilainen Chronometre 27 that utilizes the incredible Longines 360 ebauche. Very few of these models have appeared at auction since they were introduced in the late 2000s, but Phillips has one available this weekend. The only two prior auction results I can find are at Christie’s in 2013, and at Sotheby’s in 2017. Those examples sold for less than six figures (USD) each time. Will the Phillips watch break the curse?
