Grichka et Igor Bogdanoff sont devenus les jumeaux les plus célèbres de France, animant dans les années 1980 une émission télévisée de science et de science-fiction sur un plateau de vaisseau spatial.
Ils sont morts du coronavirus à quelques jours d’intervalle à l’hôpital, Grichka le 28 décembre et son frère lundi.
Agés de 72 ans, les deux frères n’avaient pas été vaccinés contre le Covid-19.
Leurs amis ont déclaré qu’ils étaient convaincus que leur mode de vie sain les protégerait et ils ont été admis à l’hôpital à la mi-décembre.
Bien que leurs familles n’aient pas précisé la cause de leur décès, leur avocat Edouard de Lamaze a confirmé qu’ils avaient tous deux contracté le virus.
Pierre-Jean Chalençon, un ami de la famille, a déclaré qu’ils avaient attendu trop tard pour se faire soigner à l’hôpital, estimant que la maladie était semblable à la grippe. “Les gens ont dit qu’ils étaient anti-vaxx mais ils ne l’étaient absolument pas”, a-t-il déclaré à BFMTV. “Plusieurs amis leur ont dit de se faire vacciner mais ils ont estimé qu’en raison de leur mode de vie et de leur [absence de] comorbidité, ils ne présentaient pas de risque de Covid.”
Les frères Bogdanoff étaient un couple d’excentriques, descendant de la noblesse autrichienne.
Célèbres pour leur première émission télévisée du samedi après-midi, Temps X, diffusée à partir de 1979, ils ont été pendant des années synonymes de vulgarisation scientifique et ont fait partie de la vie publique jusqu’à la fin de leur vie.
Leur émission sur TF1 a été pendant des années considérée d’une certaine manière comme une mise en avant des technologies de pointe, selon Le Monde, qui les décrivait comme les icônes d’une période kitsch de la culture. Temps X présentait d’autres émissions de télévision comme Doctor Who, Le Prisonnier et Star Trek, avec des invités comme le pionnier de la musique électronique Jean-Michel Jarre.
Cependant, lorsque la chaîne de télévision est devenue privée en 1987, ils ont été remerciés.
Dans les années 1990, les traits de leur visage ont changé de façon spectaculaire, leur donnant un menton, des lèvres et des pommettes bizarres. “Nous sommes fiers d’avoir des visages d’extraterrestres”, ont-ils déclaré un jour.
Grichka Boganoff était catégorique : ils n’avaient jamais eu recours à “ce que les gens appellent la chirurgie esthétique”, insistant sur le fait que son frère et lui étaient expérimentaux par nature et avaient essayé des technologies très avancées.
Cette affirmation a été contredite par leur ami, l’ancien ministre de l’éducation Luc Ferry, qui a déclaré qu’ils avaient tous deux subi des injections de Botox.
Les deux frères se sont ensuite essayés au travail universitaire, rédigeant des thèses de doctorat en mathématiques et en physique théorique qui ont toutes deux été rejetées par leurs pairs.
Ridiculisés par une partie des médias français, ils ont gagné un procès en 2014 pour diffamation avant de perdre un procès contre le Centre national de la recherche scientifique français.
Interrogé sur les raisons pour lesquelles ils avaient choisi de ne pas se vacciner contre le Covid s’ils n’étaient pas eux-mêmes des anti-vaxxistes, Luc Ferry a déclaré lundi : “Comme Igor, Grichka, n’était pas antivax, il était juste antivax pour lui-même”.
“Ils étaient tous deux sportifs, sans un pouce de graisse, et ils pensaient que le vaccin était plus dangereux que le virus.”
Dans un communiqué lundi, la famille d’Igor Bogdanoff a déclaré qu’il était “parti vers la lumière”, entouré de ses enfants et de sa famille.
