Le président français a réagi, ce mardi 25 janvier 2022, à la situation au Burkina Faso au micro de RFI. Une déclaration qui intervient au lendemain du coup d’État à Ouagadougou où des militaires ont annoncé avoir mis fin aux fonctions du chef de l’État, Roch Marc Christian Kaboré.
RFI : Quelle est votre réaction après les événements de ce lundi au Burkina Faso ?
Emmanuel Macron : La France comme vous le savez est présente dans la région pour lutter contre le terrorisme. Et de manière constante, je suis attaché à être aux côtés des instances régionales. La Cédéao a condamné dès hier ce nouveau coup d’État, en effet, mené par des militaires. Et le président Kaboré ayant été démocratiquement élu par son peuple à deux reprises, la France soutient la position de la Cédéao. Notre priorité est évidement que d’abord, son intégrité physique soit préservée et que le calme puisse être maintenu. Il est aujourd’hui trop tôt pour rentrer plus en détail, si je puis dire, dans la caractérisation de la situation au Burkina Faso. Et il est clair que cette situation demeure préoccupante compte-tenu de ce qui s’est passé depuis l’été 2020 au Mali, de ce qui s’est passé ces derniers mois en Guinée. Et je pense que la région doit être appuyée dans sa volonté de maintenir des transitions civiles et des élections démocratiques.
À côté de cela, je veux ici rappeler que notre priorité dans la région est évidemment de continuer de lutter contre le terrorisme islamiste qui continue à faire des ravages au Mali, mais également au Burkina Faso qui a été l’objet de nombreuses attaques terroristes ces derniers temps. D’ailleurs, quand on regarde les revendications, les motivations des putschistes, il est clair que la situation sécuritaire et les coups qui ont été portés à la fois à l’armée et à la population civile par ces groupes terroristes est un déterminant de cette rébellion. Donc, notre volonté est en lien étroit avec la Cédéao d’une part, mais l’ensemble des États partie prenante, ce qu’on a appelé l’Initiative d’Accra, de lutter contre toutes les formes de terrorisme dans la région, et d’être aux côtés des États et des populations.PUBLICITÉ
Vous craignez qu’il y ait d’autres pays qui subissent ce qu’on appelle des coups de force populaires ?
Il ne faut pas sous-estimer la fatigue et l’épuisement que créent des attaques permanentes de groupes terroristes qui viennent affaiblir les forces armées d’une part et qui viennent aussi profondément fragiliser le lien avec la population et les institutions légitimes. Donc, c’est aussi pour cela que si nous voulons lutter pour l’éducation, l’émancipation économique, la stabilité dans ces pays démocratiquement élus et pour la souveraineté des États, il est important de continuer d’intensifier la lutte contre le terrorisme.
Concernant le président Kaboré, avez-vous des informations sur sa situation ?
Je n’ai pas plus d’informations que celles qui ont été transmises. Il m’a été confirmé hier soir qu’il était en bonne santé et qu’il n’était pas menacé. Je souhaite que ce soit vraiment ça qui soit garanti officiellement dans les prochaines heures et que nous veillons collectivement à ce qu’il soit placé en sécurité lui et sa famille.
