A joint operation of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo and the armed forces of the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo is created and named SPRINGBOK. The two armies have joined forces to counter the M23 rebels in order to prevent them from seizing the city of Goma!

MONUSCO is already moving on to the stage of materializing “SPRINGBOK”. The commander of the UN force, Lieutenant General Otávio Rodrigues de Miranda Filho said on Monday, November 6, 2023 that the operation is ready to defy any threat and protect the population of Goma. He made these remarks during his visit to one of the positions of the peacekeepers on the Sake front, 30 kilometers from Goma, in the territory of Masisi.

Operation Springbok: This defensive position is set up in Kimoka, 2 kilometers from Sake, Kilolirwe-Kitshanga axis.

Our mandate is to protect the people of the DRC. And our men who are deployed here, they are there, outside of their respective bases, because they are willing to die to protect the people of this country. Any illegal force that is going to try to challenge us, we are going to face it.
